One morning An old man was wandering along the beach whenhe saw a boy far away picking up something and very gently throwingit into the sea. He quickly paced towards him, surprised to find that theboy was picking up the starfishes which were washed ashore by the tideand throwing them back into the sea.
“Excuse me, why are you throwing the starfishes back into the sea?”He asked.
The boy replied, “Sir, you see the sun will soon rise and the tide willflow away.”
“But don’t you think it is a waste of your time as there are miles andmiles of beach and numerous starfishes still lying along it? Surely youcan’t keep this act all day long. You can’t possibly make a difference! “
The child ignored the old man’s remark. Then he picked anotherstarfish and threw it into the sea, and said, “lt makes a difference forthat one. Would you like to join me? lt would make a difference.”
